GLC Course Descriptions
Level 1
Certificate of Personal Discipleship - The Certificate of Membership program aims to establish new believers in the Christian faith. The eight (8) courses in this level are designed to build a strong biblical foundation in students by presenting the nature of salvation, sanctification and the disciplines of the Christian life. intends to usher in new believers to the Body of Christ through water baptism and membership in CCF. In becoming a member, they commit themselves to take part in the ministry of the church through the small group.
Biblical Foundation 1 This course is a study of the nature of salvation. It will provide a clear understanding of God’s plan of salvation for man and explain what being “born again” really means. Focus is made on concepts such as faith and repentance, Jesus as the only way to heaven, heaven and hell, and life after death.
Biblical Foundation 2 This course covers further study on the doctrine of salvation. Assurance of salvation, awareness of Satan’s schemes and an evaluation of one’s spiritual life are the areas of focus in this course. The goal is to enable participants to gain an understanding of the crucial significance of God’s salvation plan and the eternal security they have in putting their faith in Christ alone.
Baptism This course explores the nature and function of baptism in the Christian life. Baptism is a required ordinance performed on new believers as a symbol of his/her belonging to the Body of Christ. The session includes an explanation of water baptism (baptism by immersion) and an actual baptism rite follows which is voluntary on the part of the participants.
Membership Class Course This class primarily aims to orient participants with an overview on the distinctives of Christ’s Commission Fellowship (CCF) as a church. This includes an explanation of the church’s Statement of Faith; Purpose Statement; Strategy; Core Values; Mission and Vision. It includes an invitation to formalize one’s membership in CCF with an explanation of what it means to be a member. The benefits of belonging to a small discipleship group are likewise discussed.
Holy Spirit This series of lessons aims to provide participants with a right perspective of the Holy Spirit with emphasis on His vital role in the life of every believer. Key concepts to be covered include: the Holy Spirit’s relationship with the believer, His empowerment in the believer’s life and the spiritual fruits and gifts every believer receives upon coming to faith in Christ.
Spiritual Disciplines The focus of this course is the development of four basic habits every Christian needs in order to grow to spiritual maturity. These basic spiritual disciplines are as follows: QUIET TIME (Scheduling Time with God); PRAYER (Talking with God); WORSHIP (Offering yourself to God); and FELLOWSHIP (Enjoying the family of God).
Evangelism This training course is designed to provide a tool for participants to actively engage in sharing the Gospel. It gives an overview on the biblical foundations of evangelism which covers its fundamental aspects. This course also includes suggestions on how to cultivate an eternal relationship (friendship evangelism); offers follow-up steps to sharing; and use of a spiritual assessment tool to assess potential converts.
Galatians An extensive chapter-by-chapter study on Paul’s letter to Galatians. It focuses on introductory issues, historical background, content and themes. It aims to help participants gain an understanding on the definition of the Gospel; the dynamics between faith and law and a believer’s new life in Christ.
Level 2
Certificate of Group Discipleship - The Certificate of Personal Discipleship program is designed to develop and build students as positive witnesses for Christ. The six (6) courses aim to focus on building Christ-like character among Dgroup members by equipping them with the right doctrine, right habits and right behavior.
CCF DNA (Vision and Values) This course teaches the vision and values of Christ’s Commission Fellowship. Detailed attention will be given to the meaning and implication of each core value as defined in the acrostic S.E.R.V.A.N.T.S. The church’s mission-vision of making committed followers of Christ will also be fully examined with the objective of challenging students to play an active role in its fulfillment. This challenge will be tied up with CCF’s Leadership Development Program and its objectives and goals.
Personal Development To make disciples, one needs to be a disciple first. This course considers the importance of faith and character in making disciples and addresses issues involved in the development of a believer’s spiritual, physical, mental, relational and emotional health.
Family Life This course examines the essential principles on developing and maintaining a healthy family life. It provides an understanding of the dynamics of family relationships and an exploration of the various challenges that confront Christian families. Marriage, parenting and singleness on a Christian perspective will be discussed.
Basic Doctrines An examination of six basic doctrines of the Christian faith. These are the doctrines of the Bible; the Trinity; Deity of Jesus Christ; Sin; Salvation; and the Church. Related issues that commonly confront Christians will be addressed.
Bible Survey (Old and New Testament) This course presents an extensive chronological overview of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. It provides students with a working knowledge of the 66 books while focusing on the theme of God’s redemptive history through a review of the contribution of each book in God’s unfolding plan of redemption.
Making Disciples 1 (Personal Evangelism and Follow-up) The nurturing, training and equipping of new believers must follow the initial efforts of evangelism. This course is designed for believers to understand their calling to Christ-likeness in character and mission. It aims to answer questions on who is a disciple, what are the elements involved in disciple-making, what is the cost of discipleship and how to make disciples. It is hoped that upon completion of this course, believers will actively engage in personal disciplemaking.
Level 3
Certificate of Group Discipleship - The Certificate of Group Discipleship program aims to develop and produce effective Dgroup leaders. The six (6) courses are designed to sharpen ministry competence in students in the areas of interpreting and defending the Scriptures; starting and leading a small group; and overcoming and conquering spiritual strongholds.
Spiritual Warfare (Essentials of Spiritual Warfare) This course provides a biblical overview and balanced understanding of the spiritual world as it relates to the material world. Spiritual warfare will be given emphasis on this class. It is designed to equip believers on how to put biblical truth into action and how to gain victory over personal battles, evil, and the world.
Making Disciples 2 (Small Group Discipleship)Discipleship is best achieved in small groups. This course will explore essential principles and method for starting and leading a healthy small group. It will take a look at the benefits of small group discipleship, the process involved in forming a group and what happens in a Dgroup meeting.
Making Disciples 3 (Effective Disciplemaking Skills) This course is designed to equip students with critical skills needed for effective discipling. It explores how to handle group dynamics by acquiring facilitation skills for small group settings. Essential basic principles and methods of helping others mature spiritually through counseling, mentoring, and motivating are to be discussed.
Bible Interpretation 1 An intensive course that seeks to impart skills on how to study the Bible systematically with emphasis on observation, interpretation and personal application to life and ministry. Students are expected to practice acquired hermeneutical skills in other Scriptural passages
Bible Apologetics 1 This course examines and evaluates the religious climate of The Philippines in light of what the Bible teaches.
Leadership 1 An introduction to the dynamics of leadership with focus on the biblical understanding of leadership. This includes an explanation of the need for leaders, the biblical definition and foundation of leadership; the heart of a leader; the character of a leader and the training needed for the development of an effective Christian leader
Level 4
Certificate of Leadership - The Certificate of Leadership program is designed to develop and produce D12 leaders who can manage and multiply discipleship groups. It aims to further improve the qualifications and skills of Dgroup leaders who will disciple leaders of small groups. The six (6) courses in this level intend to develop lay leadership and competence in Bible communication in students.
Leadership 2 (Team Leadership in a Movement Context) This class gives an overview of effective team leadership in the context of spiritual movements. Team leadership is essential for a leader as he leads other leaders. Managing groups, decision-making, vision-casting, and overcoming team dysfunctions are major areas a leader needs to deal with in order to move the group towards a common God-given goal. Other related topics include an examination of various leadership models as well as leadership styles that will help students become more effective leaders.
Christian Ethics (Winsome Christianity at Home, Work and Society) This course is designed to understand some current practical issues (e.g., taxation, politics, justice, work, civil rights, etc.) which involve Christians, especially in the workplace, on a daily basis. Why and how should Christians respond appropriately to these issues and become a winsome witness for Christ will be tackled. There will also be a discussion on some important biblical principles and guidelines that will help students to decide on critical issues in a Christian way.
Bible Interpretation 2 (Biblical Hermeneutics and Basic Bible Exposition) An intensive course study on Biblical Hermeneutics and Basic Bible Exposition. This course will build upon Biblical Interpretation 1 and will be focused on essential principles for accurate interpretation and application. Skills for exegesis and exposition will be developed and applied. The study will also involve an exegetical study of 1Timothy where learned principles will be applied in the exposition of the entire letter.
Leadership 3 (Managing Conflict) This course is designed to provide a biblical understanding of conflict, orientation to styles of conflict management and resolution, and identification of proper negotiation principles and approaches for properly handling conflict at different levels.
Effective Communication (Devotions, Teaching and Preaching) This course seeks to develop the student’s effectiveness as a Bible expositor and communicator in various contexts and settings. Focus will be given on message preparation and delivery. It includes an examination of various teaching and/or preaching principles and understanding some methods and styles of communication. These are to be applied to ministry skills such as leading small groups and public speaking/preaching. Students will be required to develop a devotional talk, a teaching outline, and a message. Emphasis is on practical application.
Introduction to Church Planting and World Missions (Discipleship Movement into Church Planting) An introduction to CCF church planting and world missions, it provides a general overview of the D12 strategy as it transitions into church dynamics. The principles and practices in Christian missions, the biblical basis of missions, the missionary call, the missionary life and work, and the mission program of the church will be discussed. It is a theoretical and practical study of ways and methods to implement the Great Commission at home and community with special emphasis on planting and establishing churches in the local (regional and national) and international setting.
Level 5
Certificate of Pastoral Leadership - The Certificate of Pastoral Leadership program intends to provide lay leaders with essential training for specialized study in the following fields: pastorate, campus ministry, workplace ministry, missions, or church planting. It offers solid biblical and theological studies integrated with practical ministry skills and strategies for effective leadership in a local church and international community.
